Strategic appointment supports firm’s continued expansion across the Texas municipal finance market.
D.A. Davidson & Co. has appointed Carlos Buentello as Senior Vice President in its Fixed Income Capital Markets Division, where he will serve as a public finance banker supporting the firm's Public Finance banking efforts in Plano, Texas. Buentello's appointment is part of D.A. Davidson's strategic initiative to expand its underwriting footprint across the state.
With 13 years of municipal bond industry experience, Buentello joins from Cabrera Capital Markets, where he served on the Texas underwriting desk. His responsibilities included participating in market and pricing calls for senior and co-managed municipal bond transactions, maintaining client relationships through market condition discussions, and supporting the Texas Public Finance team in client presentations showcasing underwriting capabilities.

Prior to Cabrera, Buentello worked as a municipal underwriter at Estrada Hinojosa & Co., managing complete municipal bond transactions from origination through closing on both underwriting and financial advisory sides. His background also includes compliance expertise, having served as a Compliance Officer at Invesco Capital Markets supporting the Institutional Sales Division, and beginning his career as a Senior Examiner at FINRA, where he led examination teams conducting routine reviews of registered broker/dealers.
Buentello holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin and maintains Series 7, 28, 50, 53, 99, and 63 licenses. In his new role as public finance banker, he will leverage his extensive municipal bond experience to serve Texas issuers and support D.A. Davidson's continued growth in the Texas municipal finance market.
