Jim Nelson is a public finance banker and financial advisor with over 30 years of experience in public finance. He has worked on more than $6 billion of tax-exempt and taxable financings.
Jim is experienced in all phases of the bond financing process and provides a wide array of services to his customers, such as financial modeling, tax levy analysis for voted bonds, ideas on voter education, revenue bond analysis and projected debt service coverage, establishing a bond rating grade or rating upgrade, and ongoing services after the bond sale. He specializes in General Obligation Bonds, Water & Sewer Revenue Bonds, Current and Advance Refunding Bonds, Local Improvement District Bonds, Short Term Notes, and other financing options. Jim’s extensive list of issuer clients includes cities, counties, fire districts, water and sewer districts, park and recreation districts, and other special districts in Washington state.
Jim is a member of the Washington Public Treasurers Association, Washington Finance Officers Association, Puget Sound Finance Officers Association, Association of Washington Cities, Washington Association of Sewer & Water Districts, Washington Fire Chiefs Association, and Washington Fire Commissioners Association and has been a speaker at various conferences.
Jim holds Series 50, 52 and 63 licenses in addition to a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.
