Richard Lohr joined D.A. Davidson in 2022 and leads the firm’s nationwide senior living and structured housing business. He is responsible for the group’s business strategy and development, transaction origination and client advisory services as well as coordination with key platform groups, institutional investors and bank partners. He brings over 32 years of experience in both private and public company environments.

Richard’s expertise is delivering strategic and innovative capital solutions as well as advisory services for senior living and related housing organizations. He has significant experience structuring transactions to access both high yield and investment grade capital for development, expansion, acquisition and organizational affiliations of senior living, active adult and affordable housing communities. He has executed over $5 billion in financing solutions including tax-exempt and taxable securities, mezzanine and subordinate debt as well as private placement capital.

Prior to joining D.A. Davidson, Richard was the head of the senior living group at Piper Sandler as well as the co-head of the housing and healthcare group at BB&T Capital Markets. Before investment banking, he was an equity partner and member of senior management at Greystone Communities, Inc. He was responsible for client consulting services including defining growth strategies, business and development planning as well as operating reviews for LifePlan Communities and related senior housing and healthcare organizations. Additionally, he was responsible for managing the development of complex financial models, coordination of development activities and continuing disclosure to boards and institutional investors of various projects and investments. Greystone Communities was subsequently acquired by Sunrise Senior Living.

Richard began his career at Bank One, Texas. Subsequent to Bank One, he worked in the management consulting sector for Peterson Consulting and Tucker Alan Inc. and provided various business advisory services to clients in the insurance, manufacturing, aerospace and defense industries. He is a graduate of Baylor University and holds his Series 53, 7 and 63 licenses.
